911 Call Leads To Orchard Drug Bust

After two arrests were made in Orchard last Thursday, the individuals appeared on drug charges in Antelope County Court this week.

Fred Beyer, 41, and Sadie Eberhardt, 34, both made their first appearances in front of Judge Donna Taylor almost a week after their arrests at their residence in Orchard. They were arrested after a 911 call to the Antelope County Sheriff’s Department Dispatch from Eberhardt “advising that Fred Beyer was trying to kill her,” according to court documents.

When officers arrived on the scene, Eberhardt told officers that she did not know where Beyer was.

“Officers began a search for Fred Beyer throughout the house and as (officers) went up the stairway to the upstairs rooms, (officers) detected a strong smell of marijuana,” the document stated. It said suspected drug paraphernalia was also observed at the residence.

Eberhardt and Beyer were both arrested for Third Degree Assault and Terroristic Threats against each other after each admitted in interviews with Sheriff Bob Moore and Deputy John Shaver that “they had been verbally and physically assaulted and also both phones showed life- threatening accusations made by both parties to each other.”

After the arrests were made, a search warrant was served at approximately 3:26 p.m. by the Antelope County Sheriff's Department, SNARE Drug Task Force and the Nebraska State Patrol.

During the search, “several items were seized that implicated Eberhardt and Beyer were engaged in the elicit distribution of methamphetamine and marijuana. Items seized include but not limited to; drug paraphernalia, approximately 1 ½ ounces of marijuana, a digital scale which (the investigator) knows is used to weigh drugs for distribution, plastic packaging material, and just over 3 ounces of methamphetamine (field test positive) or about 92 grams,” according to court documents.

The investigator at the scene indicated “this quantity of methamphetamine is a substantial amount to possess for purposes of distribution and that it far surpasses personal use.”

Both Eberhardt and Beyer are being charged with Terroristic Threats, a Class IIIA Felony, and Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (10 grams or more), a Class ID Felony. On count one of terroristic threats, bond is set at $10,000 - 10%, and count two of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (10 grams or more), bond is set at $50,000 - 10%.

Beyer has posted bond, but is currently being held at the Madison County Jail on other charges. Eberhardt is being held at the Antelope County Jail.
