Ten Qualify For Neligh Chamber Hole-In-One Contest

With a $50,000 pickup on the line, 10 local golfers took their chances at a hole one on Saturday afternoon at the Antelope Country Club.

The Neligh Chamber of Commerce contest was sponsored by the Antelope County News and Pitzer Digital. Antelope County Chiropractic & Wellness gave away a $130 wedge to the top qualifier. The winner would have won either a truck from Jonny Dodge valued at up to $50,000 or the cash. 

Unfortunately, only one golfer even hit the green on Hole No. 6, which played at 167 yards for the contest. Alex Hughes, who had the fourth-best qualifying shot, was about 15 yards from the pin.

Qualifiers, in order, were Greg Ptacek, Scott Kester, Rich Burgess, Hughes, Chris Funk, Brian Epke, Landon Bloedorn, Mark Funk, Derek Schilling and Al Stelling. 

"This was a great first contest for us," said Assistant Economic Development Director Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen. "We heard so many positive comments that we are leaning toward making this an annual event. It was a lot of fun and was great to help kick off Old Mill Days because the Neligh business community is a huge supporter of the Neligh Young Men's Club."
