Michael Anthony Peetz, 62, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 14, 2018. First and foremost, Michael was the beloved husband of Joni Hughes Peetz and the father of two daughters whom he adored, Alexa Berry and Caroline Peetz of St. Louis. Michael was a devoted family man and especially enjoyed attending Alexa and Caroline’s dance performances and school activities.
Michael is the son of Dr. Dwaine Peetz and the late Mildred Bauman. He was born in Neligh, Nebraska, where he was one of nine children. Michael cherished the memories of working on the farm, backyard family carnivals, and playing a variety of sports, with wrestling being his favorite. Michael was also a great storyteller and the life of the party. He was a lifelong sports fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Creighton Blue Jays, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Michael received his undergraduate degree in Economics from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He later earned his Juris Doctorate at Creighton Law School. Michael was a member of the Missouri Bar, and established the Peetz Law Firm in Chesterfield where he enjoyed working with a network of solo practitioners which led to long-lasting friendships with his clients and fellow colleagues. Survivors include his wife, Joni Peetz, daughters Alexa (David) Berry and Caroline (Peter Jochens) Peetz; father, Dr. Dwaine (Carmen) Peetz, siblings: Susie (Del) Ames, Dwaine (Cathy) Peetz, Jr., Frosty (Melanie) Peetz, Thomas (Carolyn) Peetz, Candy Pelster, Kristi (Gerald) Zimmer, Stephanie (David) Scott, and Katie (Mike) Thiele; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends. Michael was preceded in death by his mother Mildred Bauman, stepfather James Bauman, and nephew Jesse Peetz. Services: Wake at Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, 14960 Manchester Road, Ballwin 63021, on Sunday, September 23, 2018, 2-6 p.m. Mass at Ascension Catholic Church, 230 Santa Maria Drive, Chesterfield 63005, on Monday, September 24, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
