Funeral Services For Mervin Hurtig

Funeral services for Mervin Lloyd Hurtig, age 82, of Orchard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the United Methodist Church in Orchard.  Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Wednesday August 22, at the United Methodist Church in Orchard.  Burial will be at a later date. 

Mervin passed away August 19th at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE.

Mervin was born Nov. 23, 1935 on a farm Southwest of Ewing, NE. to parents Theo and E. Lane Hurtig.  He was the fourth of nine children and graduated from Orchard High School in 1954.  Mervin attended one year of Trade School at Milford. 

Mervin married Carrie Marlene Black on January 25, 1958 and to this union five children were born Robert, Roland, Richard, Rhonda and Roger.  Anyone who spent time with Mervin would appreciate his love for his family and 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  Mervin was an avid fisherman making trips to Canada, Minn., AL., Miss., MO and SD. Mervin also had a love for his pets. He loved to travel with his wife Marlene of 60 years.

Mervin is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, son Roger who passed away Dec. 25, 1970, two Brothers and One Sister.
