Funeral Services For Lynn Keetle

Funeral services for Lynn Keetle, age 90, of Brunswick, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Brunswick Auditorium. Stanley Morrison, Jon Platte, and LeRoy Sandford will officiate. Private family burial will be at Brunswick Cemetery. 

Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 20 and Sandhills Legion Riders Post 172.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Creighton, Nebraska.
Lynn died Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Lynn Francis Keetle, son of Clifford and Irene (Armstrong) Keetle, was born March 12, 1925, at Brunswick, Nebraska. Lynn attended District 78 School through the eighth grade. He then graduated as salutatorian of his class from Brunswick High School in 1942. He also attended Grand Island Business College. On August 1, 1946, Lynn was united in marriage to Vesta M. Reed at Center, Nebraska. Two children were born to them: Jimmy L. and Arlynda M.

Lynn never lived more than a mile from his birthplace, except for the three years he served his country in the United States Coast Guard and when he worked on a farm near Stanton, Nebraska for a year and a half. He served During World War II and was stationed at various places in the United States and also in the Pacific Theatre. He and his fellow servicemen were only 500 miles from Japan when the ceasefire was declared.

When Lynn was discharged from the Coast Guard, he returned to the Brunswick area, near his birthplace, and farmed there the remainder of his life. Within a week of his death, he was catching beans from his grandson, Steven, whom Lynn lovingly called “Charlie.” Steven took over caring for the farm that Lynn had diligently tended to for many years.

Lynn served on various local boards throughout his lifetime. In 1951, he accepted Christ into his life and was faithful to the end.

Lynn is survived by his children, Jimmy L. (Anita) Keetle and Arlynda M. (Monte) Montgomery; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Phil of Leesburg, Florida; sister, Grace McAndrews of Sacramento, California; sister-in-law, Ann Springer of Portland, Oregon; one niece and seven nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vesta; his parents; and brother, Lyle; sister-in-law, Jaci Keetle; brother-in-law, Orville Springer; and half-sister and her husband, Ardith and Bernard Johnson.
