Funeral Services For Gene Reeker

Funeral services for Gene Reeker, age 87, of Meadow Grove, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek, Nebraska. Reverend Bart J. Fouts will officiate.

Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church.

Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Gene died Thursday, September 22, 2016, at his residence.
Gene Reeker, son of Harry and Rosella (Wisenstine) Reeker, was born October 4, 1928, in Meadow Grove, Nebraska. He attended Deer Creek rural school and graduated from Battle Creek High School. On June 26, 1949, he was married to Ruby Wisch of Meadow Grove. To this union five daughters were born. Ruby passed away April 25, 2011. On June 14, 2014, Gene married Annie Middleton at the farm.

Gene raised and broke horses with his father, owned a seed corn business, and farmed most of his life. He loved gardening, growing sweet corn, and his dog, Dallas. Gene was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Reeker of Meadow Grove, Nebraska; five daughters, Suzanne (George) Yager of Jackson, Tennessee, Becci Monaghan of Omaha, Nebraska, Genie (Scott) Kudym of Omaha, Mari (Stan) Santa of Omaha, and Sherri (Shawn) Finney of Des Moines, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruby Reeker; one son in infancy; and two sons-in-law.
