Tilden Man Has Died Following Accident Near Elkhorn River

A Tilden man has died following a one-vehicle accident in which the car he was driving landed in the pond near the Elkhorn River.

According to the Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler, Douglas Halsey, 66, was pronounced dead upon arrival by medical personnel at Antelope Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Abler said the accident occurred just north of the Elkhorn River bridge on Highway 275 between Neligh and Oakdale. It was reported to the Antelope County 911 at 12:50 p.m. 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and the Antelope County attorney has requested an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.

Responding to the accident were the Neligh Police Department, Neligh Fire Department, Neligh Rescue, Neligh-Oakdale Jaws of Life, Oakdale Fire Department and Antelope County Sheriff's Department.
