Oakdale Fire Department Responds To Residence Fire

The Oakdale Fire Department responded to a residence fire just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night.

Fire Chief Art Griffith said about a dozen firefighters responded to the call at 605 Hohman, owned by Sarah Schultz. 

"We got the call that there was smoke at this residence," Griffith said. "When we arrived, the fire was extinguished and the oven door was open."

According to Schultz, her daughter was at home cooking a pizza and called the fire department when smoke filled the residence. Schultz commended her daughter for calling 911 immediately and said when she arrived at the home, there were flames coming from the oven. The family then extinguished the fire.

Griffith said there may be some smoke damage in the home. The fire department remained on scene ventilating the home.
