Fire Marshal Called To Investigate Fire Southwest Of Oakdale

A fire east of Oak Creek Ranch on Sunday night is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

According to Oakdale Fire Chief Art Griffith, the Oakdale Fire Department was called at 6:09 p.m. Sunday to a fire about a half-mile east of 843 Road and 523 Ave. The land is owned by the Duane Dinslage Trust. 

Griffith said the grass fire destroyed about an acre of land and had nearly put itself out by the time the 10 firefighters arrived on scene with a pumper truck and two grass rigs. Firefighters sprayed several hot spots and remained on scene waiting for the fire marshal to arrive.

"It looks like a grassfire, but we don't know what caused it," Griffith said. "The fire marshal will investigate."

The fire wrapped around the edge of a cell phone tower and was also near a meter box.
