Driver Arrested Following Car, Semi Collision On Sunday

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in an accident where a car struck a semi on Highway 275 Sunday morning near Mr. S’s convenience store in Oakdale. 

According to the Antelope County Sheriff Bob Moore, the driver of the Pontiac Grand Am - Chase Underwood of Piqua, Ohio - was arrested Sunday for driving while under the influence. 

Both males in the Grand Am declined medical attention at the scene, and both individuals in the semi were uninjured. 

The driver of the semi, Chris Sammons of Greenwood, Mo., said he was eastbound when struck by a westbound 2001 Grand Am owned by Zach Williams, 21, of Piqua, Ohio, around 6:15 a.m. Sunday. Williams was sleeping in the passenger seat at the time of the crash, he said. 

Sammons said the Grand Am over-corrected and crossed the centerline, striking the trailer, which is owned by EARP Distribution of Kansas City.
