Two people were arrested following an accident inside the Neligh city limits on Sunday morning.
According to the Neligh Police Department, multiple calls were received at 8:57 a.m. on Sunday involving a one-vehicle accident in the 800 block of L Street.
Upon arrival it was determined that a white 1991 Dodge Dynasty driven by Douglas J. Jacobs of Neligh failed to negotiate a turn on Highway 275. The vehicle left the roadway and proceeded to strike a tree on the east side of the road on the east end of 9th Street along the curb on Highway 275.
There were three individuals inside the car at the time — Jacobs, Lauren A. Harms of Wayne and Benjamin King, address unknown but formerly of Neligh.
Neligh Police said Jacobs was located a short distance from the vehicle, where he was arrested for driving under influence of drugs, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being housed at the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center and alleges he fell asleep while driving.
Harms was located near 6th and L Street, or about three blocks from the scene of the accident. She was placed under of arrest for a schedule IV controlled substance and taken to the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center.
King was located in the vehicle and also taken to Antelope County Law Enforcement Center, where he was later released.
The Neligh Police Department investigated the accident while the Antelope County Sheriff's Department made the arrests.
