A Neligh woman has accepted the position of Neligh's new economic development director. The position also serves the Village of Clearwater through an agreement with the City of Neligh.
Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen has served as the interim director since December 1 and previously was the assistant director of the department, along with the director of the Neligh Chamber of Commerce. She has served in those positions since July 2015.
"The hiring committee met and interviewed (applicants) on the 11th," said Al Stelling, president of the ED Board. "The committee made a recommendation to offer Lauren the job, and she accepted."
Mayor Joe Hartz quickly added, "That would be wonderful."
Sheridan-Simonsen was recommended by the Neligh Economic Development Board during its monthly meeting. The recommendation moves to the Neligh City Council, who will approve the hiring at its February meeting.
