Persons Of Interest: 'Decided To Turn Ourselves In'

A new video released by the two persons of interest in the Sydney Loofe case says the pair are planning to turn themselves in.

Three times in the 10 1/2 minute video, Aubrey C. Trail, 51, said he and Bailey M. Boswell, 23, are now turning themselves into authorities, though Trail continued to plead his innocence in the disappearance of Loofe, 23 of Lincoln and formerly of Neligh.

“Of course, again, I’m just a criminal so you’re going to believe none of this, and I guess it’s really irrelevant because we’ve pretty much have decided to turn ourselves in and see where this goes,” Trail said.

The video ends with a brief clip of Boswell’s tattoos. While that is the only time she is seen on video, Trail repeatedly said she was with him and that the original video that has now been deleted was all both of them.

The second time Trail said they were turning themselves in, he referenced legal advice telling them not to do so.

“All lawyers out there said don’t turn yourself in, don’t talk to the police, don’t do this, don’t do that, but we’ve pretty much decided to turn ourselves in because we’ve pretty much been convicted anyway,” he said.

The third time he said they would turn themselves was near the end of the video.

“We’re gonna turn ourselves in because it’s probably the only viable option now,” he said.

Trail also discussed his criminal background and mentioned a warrant for his arrest in Minnesota that has been active for 12 years. He said there are others, including a criminal history of forgery, writing bad checks and theft.

“I’m not saying I’m a nice guy. I’m a crook, I’m a thief. Have been all my life, OK? But I’m not what you’re trying to make me out to be,” he said.

Trail also denied allegations of murder and sex trafficking.

“I’ll be (expletive) I’m gonna stand here and be accused of doing something to someone. You pretty much blatantly said that we murdered this girl. You blatantly said that we’ve sold her in some kind of trafficking.”

Trail referenced knowing about a press conference on Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. with Lincoln Police Department, which indicates the video was recorded sometime Wednesday evening.

This is the second video released by the persons of interest. The first was on Facebook directly to the Finding Sydney Loofe page, which is the official search page by the Loofe family. Both the video and the account have since been deleted.

In the time between the two videos, law enforcement have centered their search for Loofe in an area in Wilber with a pond and creek. The pond is being drained.

Loofe was last seen on Nov. 15 in Wilber after a date with a woman she met online, allegedly Boswell. In the first video, Trail said Boswell dropped Loofe off at a friend's house. In the second video, Trail said he does not know the name of Loofe's friend.

Loofe did not go to work on Nov. 16 and her car remained at her apartment.

Anyone with any information in the case is asked to call the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000.
