The visiting St. Mary's Cardinals topped the Neligh-Oakdale girls, but fell to the Warrior boys in Tuesday night's matchups.
The Lady Warriors came out strong as Bailey Frey hit a three pointer early in the game. St. Mary's got their offense going and took over a 18-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals widened their margin while holding N-O to just six points in each of the final three quarters for the 62-29 victory.
"Bailey led the team with 11 points," Coach J.J. Wagner said. "She really set the tone for us tonight by stepping up and knocking down a three to start the game. It helped our girls gain some confidence."
Other scorers for the Lady Warriors were Kinsley Klabenes with 8; Heather Pellatz with 4; and Alexis Jensen, Taylor Sehi and Chase Vleck each with 2.
The Neligh-Oakdale boys had a narrow lead at the end of the first 8 minutes, but held St. Mary's to just 5 points in the second quarter for a 28-12 advantage at halftime. The Warriors continued to outscore their opponent in the second half to seal the win, 56-35.
Grant White led the scoring attack for the Warriors with 19 points, followed by Alex Kerkman with 15, Tyson Belitz 13, Chris Bentley 4, Clayton Anderson 3 and Nate Buck 2. Bentley led N-O on the boards by grabbing 10 rebounds.
