Neligh Native Named 2018 Enterprising Woman of the Year

A Neligh native was recently honored in Enterprising Women magazine's 2018 Enterprising Women of the Year Awards, an annual tribute to the world's top female entrepreneurs.  

Lisa Miller was one of several women honored at the March event for her business growth, entrepreneurship, skilled leadership and charitable contributions.

Miller started her own business in 1999 and founded encompas in 2006 along with her husband Herman Weist.  Since its inception, encompas has rapidly grown to be one of Kansas City’s largest office furniture providers and has expanded operations into Wichita, Kansas and Omaha, Nebraska. The company represents Haworth furniture products, the world’s 3rd largest manufacturer of office furniture in the world.

A 1979 graduate of Neligh High School, Miller received her degree in interior design in 1984 from the University of Nebraska.  After a few years of employment in the Lincoln and Omaha areas, Lisa moved to Kansas City in 1987 with her husband to pursue office furniture sales.

Miller has been an active part of the Kansas City community volunteering her time at Kansas City’s Rose Brooks Shelter, a shelter for battered women. Her philanthropy also includes work with such organizations as the FirstHand Foundation, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kansas City, Harvesters and the Leukemia Society.

She is the daughter of Jerry and Joan Miller and sister to Steven Miller (Columbia, SC), David Miller (Omaha) and Linda Miller Thompson (Neligh).
