Neligh City Council Approves Feasibility Study Of Nursing Home

The Neligh Care and Rehabilitation Center’s future remains uncertain.

During the Neligh City Council meeting last week, City Clerk Dana Klabenes said she left the facility consideration and possible action on the agenda as a standing item.

Mayor Joe Hartz suggested the council members have an executive meeting so they could have a private discussion. The council agreed and they left the room for talks on the facility.

When the executive meeting concluded and the audience returned, council member Dale Wilkinson said that, based on their discussion, a motion should be made to authorize the mayor to contact a financial institution to conduct a feasibility study on Neligh Care and Rehab.

A motion was made by council member Stephanie Wanek and Ted Hughes made a second.

Mayor Hartz said he would look to the city attorney or others for help, as this is different from what he’s used to.

“I’m going to look for Jim (McNally) to help me with this because it’s something I’m not familiar with, so this is a whole other area,” he said. “So, I’ll ask for help from there, or Dana or the other council folks that could help with that.”
