N-O Students Raise Over $700 For Rainbow House

Neligh-Oakdale students added a bit of green to the Rainbow House.

Last week, the Neligh-Oakdale elementary student council hosted a change drive to benefit the Rainbow House in Omaha.

Preschool through sixth grade students collected $705.89 with their efforts.

The Rainbow House provides free housing to families with children receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital and Nebraska Medical Center who live more than 60 miles away from Omaha.

"Numerous staff and students’ families from our own school have utilized this wonderful facility,” said Becky Kerkman, elementary guidance counselor. “It was touching to see many young students who brought money from their own piggy banks.”​

Kerkman said money was also collected between the home basketball games against West Holt on Saturday night.
