One of Neligh’s local artists will be featured in an upcoming art show.
Mark Ervin, who creates full color illustrations with his business Art-N-Motion, will be displaying his art at the Sokol Auditorium and Underground in Omaha on Thursday, July 26 from 7 to 11 p.m. Advance tickets may be purchased for $22 in advance through Ervin at http://rawartists.org/markervinsartnmotion. Ervin said he was invited to showcase his work in the unique event: Connect, presented by RAW Omaha. The event will feature numerous art disciplines, including a visual art gallery, performing arts, hair and makeup, runway fashion show, photography, vendors and more. The night will open with a pop-up art gallery, where patrons are encouraged to observe and appreciate the hard work of their talented local community and are welcome to make purchases. The gallery will remain open all night. There will also be on stage performances by some talented musicians and performing artists throughout the night. In addition, a "living art gallery" will showcase the featured hair and makeup artists. The night will close with a runway fashion show, featuring clothing lines from local Omaha designers. An Omaha native, Ervin has had a variety of art experiences in his background. He and his wife Jennifer (Baker) moved to Los Angeles in 1989 where he attended the California Institute of the Arts, studying traditional character animation. Ervin worked professionally in the animation industry from 1990-2018, with most of his years spent on “The Simpsons” as an animator, storyboard artist, assistant director and director. He also directed several episodes of “Futurama” and storyboarded and animated on “Rugrats.” The Ervins and their children, Ian, Abby, Noelle and Matthew, moved back to Nebraska in 2001. “Currently I like to take advantage of the advancements in digital media creating full color illustrations of my first love, automobiles and people, often times, both interacting,” Ervin said. “I use my story-telling style and animation background to create images that ‘come to life’ or bring up memories that, perhaps, a camera never captured.” |
