Lori Johnson Earns Distinguished Alumni Award

DisLori L. Johnson, a 2001 graduate of the SCC Business Administration program, received the 2018 Southeast Community College Distinguished Alumni Award on November 15, 2018. Johnson is a Stockholder, Vice President and Senior Staff Appraiser with Great Plains Appraisal, Inc. located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Johnson is active in the appraisal of commercial, industrial, special-purpose, multi-family, nursing home, assisted living, independent living and hospital use properties throughout both Nebraska and Iowa.

Johnson graduated from Southeast Community College in the spring of 2001 with an Associates in Business Administration. In 2009, Johnson graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Doane University. In addition to her academic achievements, Johnson is credentialed as a Certified General Real Property Appraiser in both Nebraska and Iowa; and in 2014, earned the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute. This designation is held by only 33 appraisers in the State of Nebraska, of which only six are women,

Johnson has served on various professional committees and organizations. From 2009-2012, she served on the Board of Directors of the Nebraska Chapter of Appraisal Institute. In 2016, Johnson served as Treasurer for the Nebraska Chapter and in 2017 as Vice President. As current President, her leadership has advanced the chapter by facilitating an organizational restructuring. Johnson will continue to serve as President for the Nebraska Chapter through 2019, and was recently elected to serve at the regional level, encompassing ten states throughout the Midwest. Johnson serves on the Rent-Restricted Housing Projects Valuation Committee for the State of Nebraska Department of Revenue’s Property Assessment Division.

Johnson’s current partners describe her as a “highly respected” “outstanding appraiser” and a “visible advocate” of the real property appraisal profession, “a wise mentor,” “a standard bearer of integrity and civility” and a “leader in the profession.”

Johnson has been employed at Great Plains Appraisal, Inc. for over 15 years and is currently a partner in the firm. Johnson is married with two children and resides in Lincoln. Johnson is the daughter of Duane and Phyllis Eichberger of Neligh.
