The former Imperial Steakhouse building has been sold.
Bruce and Cindy Hild of Neligh closed on the 116 E. 4th St. property this morning.
Mr. Hild said the building, which most recently housed the El Vallarta Mexican Restaurant, will be converted back into a steakhouse and lounge. It will be reopen with the name, Imperial II.
"It will be turned back into a steakhouse like the Imperial used to be, and the other side will be a sports lounge with TVs in the bar area," he said. "The artwork on the walls (inside and out) will be changed to look more like the old Imperial did."
Hild said the Imperial II will open as soon as the cosmetic changes can be made to the building. He said the original steakhouse opened for business in the winter of 1964. The Hilds purchased the property from Doug and Gloria Dennis of Neligh.
"So it will be 50 years later, if it opens about the same time," Hild said.
He said food will be served in the restaurant and lounge areas and will include a variety of menu options of beef, pork and chicken options. He said Lloyd and Colleen Meis of Neligh will manage the business.
