Two recent graduates of local high schools are spending their summer learning about technology, social media, journalism and marketing as they intern at the Antelope County News.
Dylan Widger, an Elgin graduate, and Bryce Frey, a Neligh-Oakdale graduate, began their duties right after graduation and are already contributing to content both online and in print.
Widger is the son of Marty and Lori Widger and plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His major is presently undeclared, but he is considering broadcasting/journalism.
Frey is the son of Brian and Leann Frey and plans to attend Cornell University and major in computer science.
Carrie Pitzer, president of Pitzer Digital, LLC - the parent company of the ACN, said both Widger and Frey will gain valuable experience this summer with reporting, photography, video and various technology aspects.
"Both of these young men are great additions to our staff. They're eager to learn and are quick to volunteer for assignments," Pitzer said. "This will be a great experience for both, and I think they'll teach us some things, too, as we continue to expand our engagement with a teenage audience."
Widger and Frey will work with the news team in Antelope, Knox, Holt and Boone counties, as well as contributing to the company's newspaper, The Orchard News.
