Biggest Loser Contest To Return To AMH Wellness

“On January 15, 2018, our next ‘Biggest and Best Loser’ Contest begins here at Antelope Memorial Hospital,” said Bethany Schacht, AMH Wellness Director. “I look forward to assisting the participants in meeting their personal health and wellness goals. This contest is a great opportunity to start making healthy choices and the perfect way to bring in the New Year!”   

Last year’s winner of the men’s division was Tim Kester of Clearwater.

“The contest really helped me to be successful in reaching my goal,” said Tim.  “The weigh-ins made me accountable and helped me work harder. Plus, the staff was very encouraging and supportive, which made a big difference. I would definitely recommend this program to others.”

The contest has three categories for men, women and teams. It runs for 10 weeks from January 15th - March 23rd. For early registration (by January 10th), the cost is $30 for individuals and $100 for teams of four. After January 10th, the costs are $40 and $120, respectively. The entry fee includes a t-shirt, weekly weigh-ins (on Tuesdays and Thursdays), use of the AMH Wellness Center and the S.T.A.C. (Strength Training and Cardio) fitness class (times TBA). In addition, two presentations about health and nutrition, will be presented by Brad Averill, UNL Extension Educator.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall first-place winner of each category.
The S.T.A.C class will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays (times TBA) in the AMH Wellness Center from Monday, January 22nd - Wednesday, March 14th. S.T.A.C incorporates a variety of exercises to improve strength and cardiovascular endurance. Individuals of all ages are encouraged to attend S.T.A.C, regardless of fitness level.

Individuals who are not contest participants may become members of the AMH Wellness Room for $20/month for individuals under age 55 and $17 for those 55 and older. Regular hours are: M - Th: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and F: 7:30 – 4 p.m. (Hours may vary.)
