AMH To Start 'Biggest And Best Loser' Contest Soon

Start the new year off right!

On January 7, 2019, Antelope Memorial Hospital will begin its next "Biggest and Best Loser" Contest, according to Bethany Schacht, AMH Wellness Director.

“Once again, I look forward to helping our community members achieve their wellness goals as well as incorporating healthy habits into their lifestyles," she said. "This contest is an excellent way to kick off 2019!”

Last year’s winner of the women’s division was Diann Arehart of Neligh. The Biggest Loser Contest helped me with accountability, said Diann. Weekly weigh-ins kept me on track and chasing the “weekly winner” was incentive for me.  I have to thank the other contestants for their participation and “pushing me” to continue. Since my weight loss ‒ my energy level and confidence have increased tremendously. I plan to continue this weight loss journey and will definitely enter the contest again next year.

The contest has three categories for men, women and teams. It runs for 10 weeks from January 7th - March 16th. For early registration (by January 4th), the cost is $30 for individuals and $100 for teams of four. After January 4th, the costs are $40 and $120, respectively. The entry fee includes a t-shirt, weekly weigh-ins (on Tuesdays and Thursdays), use of the AMH Wellness Center and the S.T.A.C. (Strength Training and Cardio) fitness class (times TBA). Cash prizes will be awarded to the overall first-place winner of each category.

The S.T.A.C class will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays (times TBA) in the AMH Wellness Center from Monday, January 14th - Wednesday, March 6th. S.T.A.C incorporates a variety of exercises to improve strength and cardiovascular endurance. Individuals of all ages are encouraged to attend S.T.A.C. ‒ regardless of fitness level.

Individuals who are not contest participants may become members of the AMH Wellness Room for $20/month for individuals under age 55 and $17 for those 55 and older. Regular hours are: M ‒ Th: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and F: 7:30 – 4 p.m. (Hours may vary.)
