Wolfpack Win First Playoff Game In 3 Years, Advance In D1

The Wolfpack won their first playoff game in three years with a 52-28 victory over Axtell on Thursday in the opening round of the Class D1 playoffs.

“The only time they’ve won a playoff game was their freshman year,” coach Randy Eisenhauer said, referring to his core of seniors. “We talked about it all week - winning a playoff game. They haven’t had the experience to do it, so this is going to give them a lot of confidence I think going the long road trip to Hemingford.”

Seth Schumacher was 8-for-10 on the night with three touchdowns, all to senior Dylan Behnk. Behnk had almost 100 all purpose yards and came up with an interception. 

“That’s one thing we did notice watching film. They’re going to put eight guys (on the line) and are going to try to stop the run,” Eisenhauer said. “From the film we watched, we though our passing game would be open, and it was.”

The Wolfpack will take a 300-mile road trip to Hemingford next week for second the round of playoffs.
