Wolfpack Sweep Warriors, Move On To Subdistrict Final

The Elgin Public Pope John volleyball team came out firing on all cylinders Monday night as the Wolfpack swept Neligh-Oakdale to advance to a subdistrict final against West Holt.​

"I saw girls that were ready to play, and I saw girls that know its subdistrict time and we have to give it our all. It's go big or go home now," said Wolfpack coach Tina Thiele-Blecker.

The Wolfpack were scheduled to play around 7:30 p.m., but due to both of the earlier games going five sets, they hit the court two hours later than anticipated. 

"The girls sat around for quite a while. I was nervous that we might come out and be a little slow and sluggish," she said. 

The Wolfpack will take on West Holt at 7 p.m. Tuesday at O'Neill High School. The winner will play the C2-9 subdistrict winner for a chance at the state tournament. 

Thiele-Blecher said she hopes the momentum the Wolfpack had Monday stays with the team Tuesday.

"I hope this carries right now to tomorrow night," she said. "I'm hoping the girls come out on fire tomorrow night."
