Wolfpack Offense Falls Flat For Second Week In A Row

For the second week in a row, the Elgin Public/Pope John Wolfpack lost a key player to injury and couldn't get the offense going.

Last week, senior Chad Bode suffered a season-ending arm injury. This week, sophomore quarterback Hunter Reestman was taken off the field after being going down awkwardly.

Freshman Connor Ramold came on for Reestman, completing just one of his eight attempts for 16 yards and an interception.

On the ground, it was Kyle Schumacher that led the way for the Wolfpack. He had five carries for 39 yards, a 7.8 yard per carry average. Joseph Bailey added 16 yards on two carries as well.

Defensively, Liam Heithoff added recorded 17 total tackles to lead the way for Elgin Public/Pope John. Kenny Bush added 13 tackles of his own. The Wolfpack had four sacks on the evening, including two from Miles Schrage. Bush and Brody Hupp each added a sack of their own.

The loss now drops the Wolfpack to 0-2 on the season, losing both games in shut out fashion. They look to turn their fortunes around against last year's D2 runner-up, Chambers/Wheeler Central/Ewing next week at home. It will be the second match up with a 2015 runner-up in the first three weeks of the season for Elgin Public/Pope John.
