Wolfpack Falls Victim To Knights' Upset Bid At NVC Tourney

The Elgin Public/Pope John conference championship hopes were dashed Tuesday night thanks to upset-minded North Central.

The Knights, the five seed, went head-to-head with the top-seeded Wolfpack and, after dropping the first set, took three straight sets to down EPPJ for just their second loss of the year.

The loss wasn't without a strong effort from the Wolfpack's usual suspects. Amy Nelson put down 13 kills while Liz Selting and Paige Meis added 12 kills each. Nicki Payne had seven kills as well on the night.

Calli Krebs had a solid night serving, recording two aces.

Defensively, Jordan Mescher brought up an impressive 28 digs. Krebs recorded 11 digs and Allyson Wemhoff brought up 10.

The loss drops the Wolfpack to the consolation round where they will meet St. Mary's, who fell to Chambers/Wheeler Central, on Friday for third place in Niobrara.
