Wolfpack Drops Close Home Game Against Wildcats

Hartington-Newcastle rushed for 249 yards and three touchdowns to escape with the narrow 36-30 victory at Elgin Field on Friday night.


Elgin Public/Pope John grabbed an early lead in the game. A long touchdown run by Andrew Fangman and a quick dash into the end zone by Chad Bode put EPPJ up, 16-8, at the end of the first quarter. 


A 1-yard touchown run by Kyle Kallhoff in the second quarter gave the Wolfpack a 24-16 lead at the half. Although EPPJ went scoreless in the third, they held onto a 24-22 lead going into the final quarter. 


The Wildcats scored twice in the fourth quarter to take the lead. A touchdown catch by Dylan Behnk put the game within reach, but time ran out on the Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack will travel to Orchard next Friday night to take on the Cyclones. Both teams will be seeking their first win at Clearwater-Orchard's Homecoming game.
