Wolfpack Bounce Back With Win Over Clearwater-Orchard

After a rough conference tournament, the Elgin Public/Pope John Wolfpack bounced back in a big way at subdistricts, downing Clearwater-Orchard in straight sets to set up a rematch with North Central.

The Wolfpack were given a bit of a test from the Cyclones but eventually were able to leave with the win 25-18, 25-16, 25-20.

“I think the win is going to help get their confidence back,” said head coach Tina Thiele-Blecher. “Last week was a tough week for us. It’s also one of those things where, with our regular season going so well, it may have been a little too much pressure on the girls and now we know it’s time to go.”

The Wolfpack was led by Liz Selting and Grace Henn on the night. Each recorded ten kills while Selting added two blocks as well. Amy Nelson added five kills and four blocks to aid the Wolfpack.

The win sends the Wolfpack on to a rematch with North Central, one of their two losses at the conference tournament. The two will go head-to-head Tuesday at Niobrara High School at 7 p.m.
