St. Boniface Students Learn Importance Of Family History

Third and fourth graders at St. Boniface Elementary in Elgin were given a unique homework assignment last week.

Mrs. Starman's students were asked to bring one item that was important to their family history. Students brought in a wide range of items from a pen made from the wood of a tree that grew at their great grandpa's farm to their great grandmother's china.  

Brooklyn Meis invited her grandpa, Marvin Meis to be her artifact.  He came to school in his military uniform and shared with the students about his service in Vietnam. The students learned about the importance of family history and learned a little more about each other.
