Midplains Ag To Host Second Annual Field Day

For the second-straight year, the University of Nebraska Extension, Nebraska Soybean Checkoff and MidPlains Ag in Elgin, Nebraska are collaborating to bring together Irrigation Management Field Day on August 30 near Elgin.

The field day will be held at 51556 836 Road near the main offices of MidPlains Ag and Holds Farms. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with presentations beginning at 9 a.m.

A number of speakers will present on various topics throughout the day. Dr. Bill Tierney and Dr. Olivia Kellner will be the keynote speakers, presenting on change afoot in the world grain markets and using weather forecasts to manage farm/fields, respectively.

Sarah Nevison, Burdette Barker, Nate Taylor and Stevan Knezevic will also work together to show attendees more on the many topics. Other topics covered include developing irrigation management zones, NRD water detection and management programs as well as herbicide and pesticide resistance.

Along with the many presentations, a number of area vendors will be on hand to help fill the needs of local farmers. 27 different businesses will have booths throughout the day for those in attendance.

There will be free ice cream provided by Cabin Realty, free test rides thanks to Big Red Motorsports as well as door prizes, show specials and much more.
