Four Pope John Students Compete At State Math Contest

The Pope John MathCounts team competed in the 32nd Annual Nebraska State Competition at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on March 21.

Team members are Faith Kinney, Maddie Schrage, Lauren Seier and Kyle Schumacher. Their coach is Sister Patricia Hoffman.

The team qualified by placing second in the regional competition in Columbus in February. They were among the 71 students from 26 schools in the state competing for a spot in the national competition as they were faced with difficult, challenging problems.

Kyle Schumacher, son of Kevin and Lisa Schumacher, had the highest individual score of the Pope John students. Lux Middle School of Lincoln was the winning team.
