EPPJ Dominates Hemingford And Advances To Quarterfinals

The Elgin Public/Pope John Wolfpack was on fire Wednesday as they took on the No. 3 Hemingford Bobcats for the second round of state playoffs.

The Wolfpack was the first on the board and held Hemingford scoreless in the first quarter. After a 73 yard touchdown run by senior Andrew Fangman, the Wolfpack extended their lead. By halftime the Wolfpack was leading the Bobcats by 14 points.

They wrapped up the game with an impressive 34-6 victory over the defending D1 State Championship team. 

Fangman had 282 rushing yards on the night for a team total of 413. He currently holds the most rushing yards in the state for Class D1.

The team had a total of 77 tackles on the night, Fangman had 12 and senior Kyle Kallhoff had 11. 

The Wolfpack is gearing up for their next game in the quarterfinals against neighboring school, Clearwater-Orchard. The game will be played Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Elgin.
