Elgin Woman Presented Rare International Leadership Award

An Elgin woman was awarded a rare honor last month.

Bev Aldersen received the International Leadership Award, which is the third highest international award that may be given to a Lion's Club member.

Past International Director Karl Adamson presented the award to Aldersen at the 2015 State Lion's Club Convention in Broken Bow on May 30.

"I was shocked - I had no idea," she said. "They got up and said some really nice things about me. I have never been so humbled."

Currently president of the Neligh Lion's Club, Aldersen said she was recognized because she "stepped up to be the Nebraska Youth Exchange Chairperson."

"I started the process last August, but it takes quite a bit of time and a lot of paperwork," she said. "I will start placing kids next summer. So, you want to host an exchange student through the Lion's Club program, just let me know."
