Elgin Duo Wins State Speech Title; Pope John OID Runner-Up

Elgin's Kenny Bush and Alois Warner won a state championship Thursday at Class D2 state speech in Kearney in duets while Pope John was runner-up in Oral Interpretation of Drama.

Leslie Linares also earned an individual medal for Elgin Public, finishing fourth in entertainment speaking. 

It was domination for the Elgin community in OID as the Pope John team of Lizzie Mlnarik, Lexie Heithoff, Whitney Walker, Maria Bartak and Terri Seier finished runner-up.

​The Elgin Public team of Kira Widger, Lydia Behnk, Morgan Carpenter, Leslie Linares and Dylan Widger finished fifth. 

The other Elgin OID team of Taya Voborny, Jaime Hoefer, Kenny Bush, Alois Warner and Zoey Bergman also medaled in seventh place. 

In team competition, Elgin placed eighth while Pope John was 15th.
