Cyclone Basketball Teams Make A Clean Sweep Of EPPJ

It was an action packed night of basketball Thursday night Elgin as the Clearwater-Orchard Cyclones took on Elgin Public Pope John.

The Lady Cyclones and the Wolfpack girls had a close thriller of a game. After being tied at 12 in the first quarter, the Cyclones led the Wolfpack by 4 at the half.  The Wolfpack fought hard in the second half to find themselves tied at 49 near the end of the game. Cyclone junior Kylie Thiele made two free throw shots to win the game in the last 9 seconds.

Scoring for the Wolfpack was led by senior Jenna Parks with 22 points, followed by Liz Selting with 10. Other scorers were Jordan Mescher, 6,  Calli Krebs, 4, Allyson Wemhoff, 4, Baylee Wemhoff, 2, and Lydia Behnk, 1.

For the Lady Cyclones scoring was led by senior Whitney Rittscher with 18, followed by Sierra Schroeder with 10. Other scorers included Mallory Cooper, 7, Kinzly Macke, 6, Skye Schroeder, 6, Pammela Maxwell, 2, and Kylie Thiele, 2.

After a close first quarter of play, the Cyclone boys led the Wolfpack at the half 32-23. The Cyclone took the game with a 17 point lead, 63-46.

Scoring for the Cyclones was led by senior Andy Kerkman with 26 points points followed by Jagger Smith 14. Other scorers included Zach Martin, 8, Blake Hoke, 5, Brenden Cleveland, 4, Travis Kerkman, 2, Liam Odell, 2, and Blake Kester, 2.
