Smith Scores 39 Points As Cyclones Top EPPJ In Subdistricts

Senior Jagger Smith was unstoppable Monday night, scoring 39 points as the Cyclones ended the Wolfpacks' season during the first-round of subdistricts.

Smith, who recently signed to play basketball at Doane, hit 15-of-22 from the field and 1-of-4 from behind the arc, to lead Clearwater-Orchard to a 74-57 win over Elgin Public Pope John at O'Neill High School.

The Cyclones, seeded fourth, are looking for their third straight trip to the state tournament and will face a tough top-seeded Ainsworth (17-5) squad in the next round on Tuesday.

Smith wasn't the only Cyclone with a big night. Andy Kerkman had 14 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and nine steals for OC.

The Wolfpack had three players in double figures as Seth Schumacher, who was 3-of-5 from behind the arc, put up 18 points to lead EPPJ. Chad Bode added 15 and Kyle Kallhoff had 11 points.
