Six Judge's Merits Awarded To Clearwater-Orchard Students

Clearwater-Orchard High School students were awarded six judge's merit ribbons at the Niobrara Valley Conference Art Show last week.

Earning judge's merit awards were: Blake Kester, Colored Pencil, Ford Truck; Kaci Schacht, Sculpture, Bartholomew the Gator and Painting, Black Shirts Helmet; Emily Filsinger, Pencil Drawing, Leaf and Photography, Saving the Motorcrosser.

Other ribbon winners were:
Emily Filsinger =  2nd
Kaci Schacht =  2nd and 3rd
Blake Kester = 2nd and 4th
Dallas Reuss = 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 4th, 2nd, 4th
Vannessa Carpenter = 2nd
Tess Klaver = 2nd, 2nd, 4th
Brenden Cleveland = 4th
Shane Willats = 1st, 1st, 1st
Ashley Cooper = 3rd, 4th
Keelie Meyer = 3rd, 4th, 4th
Celeste Lopez = 2nd, 4th, 2nd, 3rd
Rian Bergman = 2nd, 4th
Riley Snider = 4th, 3rd
Alexis Pokorny = 3rd
Kinzly Cooper = 4th

A total of 1,850 pieces of artwork from grades 7-12 were on display in the St. Mary's School gym on Friday. Students representing 18 area schools featured pieces in the show:  Chambers, Clearwater-Orchard, Elgin, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Keya Paha, Lynch, Neligh-Oakdale, Niobrara, Pope John, Rock County, Saint Mary’s , Santee, Stuart, Verdigre, West Boyd, West Holt, and Wheeler Central.

The day of the art show students attended the art activity of “Creating Art on the Ipad” taught by Keya Paha art teacher Joan Swim with her students assisting.

The judges for this year’s art show were Kevin McNichols of O’Neill and Diane Cole of Emmett for the high school, and Teri Schacht of Orchard for the junior high. Next year's show will be in Ewing.
