Scrimmage Prepares Cyclones For Season Opener Tomorrow

The O-C Cyclones football team held their Green-White scrimmage for the 2014 season on August 29 at Clearwater. 

"The entire scrimmage was a back-and-forth affair with each team answering the other’s score," Coach Jeff Shabram said. "The Green team hit paydirt first on a Spencer Volden 6 yard TD run (PAT failed). This score was set up by an Orlando Roman fumble recovery. The White answered right back and Riley Snider took the kick-off back 43 yards to set up excellent field position. After a long pass from Zach Martin to Andy Kerkman, Martin capped the drive with a 1 yard QB sneak for TD (Martin PAT pass to Riley Snider)."

The score at halftime was 8-6, with the White team in the lead.

In the second half, the Green team was the first to score. 

"After a couple of nice pass completions from Blake Kester to Trevor Mlnarik, Kester finished the first drive of the second half with a 4 yard TD run (Orlando Roman PAT kick)," Shabram said. "And yet again, the White team answered right back with another scoring drive, highlighted by a 54 yard pass from Martin to Kerkman and finished off by a Creston Bertschinger 6 yard TD run (Martin PAT pass to Seth Lampert)."

The clock ran out on the Green team as they tried to set up a last-minute scoring drive. The White team came out on top, 16-13.
