Red Cross To Host Blood Drive In Clearwater September 7

During National Preparedness Month in September, the American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to help ensure a readily available blood supply for emergencies.

After various blood drives in the area during the month of August, their will be another opportunity for those wishing to donate. Clearwater's American Legion Club will host a drive on September 7 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Anyone wishing to set an appointment to give blood should visit the Red Cross's website or call 1-800-733-2767. Appointments are recommended to help reduce wait times when donating.

As with any blood drive, donors must be sure to bring identification or a blood donor card and be 17 years of age (16 with parental consent in some states). They must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health to be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 18 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
