O-C Powerlifters Place First In Lincoln; Break Three Records

The Clearwater-Orchard powerlifters recently brought home a first place trophy and broke some records as well.

Ten O-C powerlifters traveled to Lincoln last Saturday, January 23 for the Capital City Clash Powerlifting meet held at Parkview Christian High School. 

According to coach Jeff Shabram, it was an open meet which "provided a line-up of stiff competition" of nearly 100 lifters, including both student and adult lifters from Nebraska and Iowa. 

"We can be very proud of the way our students competed and conducted themselves in representing our school and communities," Shabram said, "Many personal bests were set, ten gold medals earned, and three American records set."

The newest American record holders for USAPL Powerlifting are Wyatt Shabram (30 kg youth – bench & deadlift) and Gunnar Shabram (59 kg youth – deadlift).

  "This is an outstanding accomplishment especially considering one of the competing teams Saturday was Woodward Academy in Woodward, IA who has dominated the sport of powerlifting in the Midwest for the past 10+ years.," Shabran said, "What a nice victory!"

The top 3 scoring teams were 1st Clearwater-Orchard; 2nd Woodward Academy; 3rd UNL Co-eds. 

Individual medal winners were Wyatt Shabram 1st place (30 kg class - youth), Runin Garcia 1st place (53 kg class), Cade Mlnarik 1st place (59 kg class), Gunnar Shabram 1st place (59 kg class - youth), Tyler Wright 1st place (66 kg class), Justin Allemang 1st place (74 kg class), Ira Lampert 1st  place (83 kg class), Zane Herley 1st place (120 kg class),  Faith Woslager 1st place & JoBeth Humphries 1st place.

The next powerlifting meet for the O-C lifters will be the Class C State Powerlifting Meet held March 19 at Brownell-Talbot High School in Omaha.  The Orchard AAU Powerlifting Meet is set for April 9.
