O-C Powerlifters Earn Runners-Up In Lexington Championship

Thirteen Clearwater-Orchard powerlifters traveled to Lexington last Saturday, earning runners-up in the Lexington Powerlifting Championships. 

According to Jeff Shabram, It was a relatively large meet with a line-up of stiff competition from the Lexington area & western Nebraska.  He said The O-C lifters had a tough day ahead of them, but were up for the challenge.

"We can be very proud of the way our students competed and conducted themselves in representing our school and communities," Shabram said.

Clearwater-Orchard earned the runners-up team trophy in the boys, girls, and co-ed divisions.  Lexington High School won 1st place in all three divisions. 

Individual gold medal winners were Uriel Salas (114 lb. class) and Ira Lampert (181 lb. class).  The individual silver medal winner was to JoBeth Humphries.  Individual bronze medal winners were Wyatt Shabram (114 lb. class), Runin Garcia (123 lb. class), and Vanessa Carpenter. 

Other medal winner were Justin Allemang 4th place (148 lb. class), Zane Herley 4th place (242 lb. class), Faith Woslager 4th place, Cade Mlnarik 5th place (123 lb. class), Tyler Wright 5th place (148 lb. class), Jaiden Switzer 5th place, and Gunnar Shabram 6th place (123 lb. class).  This was a high school meet, so Ira, Wyatt and Gunnar were competing against all other high school students. 

Shabram said that numerous personal bests were also set at the meet.

The next powerlifting meet currently on the schedule for the O-C lifters will be the Wheeler Central Meet on Saturday, February 27.  Other notable dates include The Class C State Meet (at Brownell Talbot High School in Omaha) which will be held March 19, and the Orchard AAU Powerlifting Meet is set for April 9.
