O-C Picks Up First Win Of Season In Niobrara/Verdigre Sweep

The Cyclones blew past Niobrara/Verdigre on Friday, holding the Lady Cougars scoreless in the first quarter on their way to OC’s first victory of the season. 

The girls won 43-17 while the boys completed the sweep with a 73-53 victory over winless Niobrara-Verdigre.

Clearwater-Orchard was led by Whitney Rittscher’s 14 points and Mallory Cooper’s 11. 

In the boys game, Junior Jagger Smith was 7-of-11 for the night for 20 points. He also hit 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. Classmate Andy Kerkman had 24 points and 14 rebounds, including 13 defensively. 

The Cyclones will be back in action Tuesday when they host Stuart in a Niobrara Valley Conference doubleheader.
