Lady Cyclones Spilt Games In Triangular On Tuesday Night

Clearwater-Orchard went 1-1 in the Niobrara/Verdigre triangular on Tuesday.

The Lady Cyclones fell to Stuart in straight sets, but bounced back to defeat Niobrara/Verdigre in their next match.

The Cyclones met up with a very fine-tuned Stuart team," Mlnarik said. "Our net play had a lot of touches on balls, we just struggled getting them down or keeping them in play."

In the next game, O-C won the first set over the Cougars, 25-19, but the second set went to Niobrara/Verdigre, 25-16. A close final set ended in a victory for the Lady Cyclones, 25-23. 

"The girls came back with new energy after a tough loss to Stuart," Coach Shelly Mlnarik said. "They played a great first game! The second game we struggled a bit, but came back in the third game and got the win. I'm very proud of all the girls. They stepped up and overcame a lot!"

Against the Cougars, Briana Stelling put down 11 kills for the Lady Cyclones and Mallory Cooper added 8. Tough serving by O-C boosted their offensive efforts as well. Pam Maxwell tallied 6 ace serves in the match, while Kylie Thiele had 2. Click here for complete stats against N/V.   

The Lady Cyclones will travel to Tilden on Thursday where they will play in a triangular against Elkhorn Valley and Atkinson West Holt.
