Five OC Teacher Resignations Approved By Unified Board

Five resignations were approved at the Nebraska Unified District #1 board of education meeting held on Monday night, including two new resignations.

Three resignations were already announced at the Clearwater-Orchard advisory board meeting earlier this month while two resignations from Clearwater-Orchard were received. 

The Unified Board announced and approved two letters of resignation from Brian and Molly Maronde.  Brian currently teaches high school science and Molly is a special education instructor and head coaching position of the girls' varsity basketball team. 

The Marondes will be moving to York as Brian has accepted a teaching with York Public Schools.

Carrie Coats, Darcy Metschke and Tammy Cheatum all resigned from teaching. Cheatum, the current K-12 guidance counselor and 18-year educational professional, is running for the Nebraska Public Service Commission. 

Metschke, the fourth grade teacher in Clearwater accepted the fourth-grade position at Neligh-Oakdale after 12 years with the school. Metschke said she wanted to be in the same school system as her children, both of whom attend Neligh-Oakdale.

Coats, a high school math teacher in her first year with the district, cited wanting to relocate closer to family.
