Eight Clearwater-Orchard FFA Members Heading To State

Eight Clearwater-Orchard students competed in a recent district FFA competition as part of the the Verdigre FFA Chapter, all qualifying to compete at the Nebraska State FFA Convention in Lincoln on April 6-8. 

The Verdigre team of Ben Johnson, Sean Krebs, Shawn Sucha and Schyler Forman placed first in the Ag Mechanics competition at districts and Krebs will go on to compete at state.

Krebs placed first in the environmental and natural resource systems test, earning a purple ribbon. 

Liam Odell and Zach King both qualified for state in the Ag Science competition. 

The Farm Business Management team of Derik Allen, Cole Kopejtka, Blake Kester and Garrett Babcock earned second place, earning a blue ribbon as a team. 

Derik Allen place second by a tie breaker individually, earning a purple ribbon.  Blake Kester placed 11th by a tie breaker, finishing with a red ribbon. Both Kester and Allen will advance to state.

Travis Rudolf and Austin Pokorny competed in the meats competition. Rudolf placed in the top 25 percent in the meats competition, earning a blue ribbon, qualifying for state.

Veterinary Science Team of Cauy Drobny, Hannah Cronk and Cadrien Livingston placed sixth overall, earning a blue ribbon. Cronk and Livingston also earned blue ribbons as they placed in the top third of all veterinary science contestants, qualifying for state.

Blake Kester competed on the second Verdigre Veterinary Science team and received a red ribbon.
