Cyclones Rebound With Strong Performance Tuesday Night

After a rocky start to the season last week, the Clearwater-Orchard Cyclones were able to right the ship in their first action of homecoming week Tuesday night.

The Cyclones hosted the Clearwater-Orchard Triangular, taking on Boyd County and Spalding Academy and coming out on top, 2-0. 

Against Boyd County, Clearwater-Orchard was simply dominant, winning 25-13 and 25-21. Alexis Pokorny, JoCee Johnston and Kinzly Macke led the way for the Cyclones. Pokorny and Macke accounted for five kills each while Johnston put down six kills on the Spartans. Pokorny and Johnston also did work on the defensive end, accounting for 20 assisted blocks each.

The match-up with Spalding Academy was a slightly more challenging contest for Clearwater-Orchard, going all three sets. The Cyclones eventually came out on top, 25-23, 17-25 and 25-19.

Johnston had another good match on the attack, putting down 10 kills. Peyton Clifton made her mark as well offensively, serving up four aces. Defensively, Skye Schroeder stepped up for the Cyclones, recording 10 total blocks and 10 digs, second only to Kylie Thiele's 11 digs.

Clearwater-Orchard takes just one day off before continuing their marathon week during homecoming. They will take on Ewing on Thursday and Neligh-Oakdale Friday night.
