2016-17 season preview: Clearwater-Orchard has the opportunity for a fresh start in 2016-17 with a new head coach and a young squad.

Jim Schutt takes over the coaching duties from Shelly Mlnarik in 2016-17. He inherits a roster that brings back very little production from 2015-16.

The Cyclones must replace a lot of production from last season, as senior Travis Kerkman is the team’s returning scorer, rebounder and assist man after averaging 5.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game last season.

Sophomore Blake Hoke, the team’s second-leading returning scorer, will be one player that is looked upon to step up this season. Ryan Wilhelm will be relied on as the team’s force in the middle at 6-4.

The Cyclones and head coach Schutt will get a strong test in their first game out when the take on St. Mary’s on Thursday, December 1.
