Cyclones Lose Semi-Final; To Play For Third Place Tomorrow

The No. 6 Cardinals edged out the No. 7 Cyclones on Friday morning.

Randolph defeated Clearwater-Orchard, 49-39, in the semifinals at the Bob Devaney Sports Center to advance to Saturday's championship game. The Cyclones will play the loser of the Howells-Dodge and Overton game for third place. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Lincoln East High School.

Clearwater-Orchard hit a couple three-pointers to take an early lead over Randolph in the first quarter, but the Cardinals were able to answer. The game was knotted up, 10-10, heading into the second. Tough defense and hot shooting gave Randolph a six-point advantage at halftime, 24-18.

In the third quarter, the Cyclones went on a scoring run and pulled within two points, 33-31. The Cardinals came out strong in the fourth quarter to quickly extend their lead. Randolph's defense held Clearwater-Orchard to just eight points in the final quarter, and the Cardinals rolled to a 49-39 victory.
