Clearwater-Orchard kicked off the track season Friday at Wayne State College and placed in more than a dozen events.

"The Wayne State meet is always a good meet to go to because it is early and we can see how we look against other competition," said coach Shannon Schumacher.  "After this meet, we have two weeks until our next meet, so we can take what we learned at Wayne and adjust and improve it in the next couple weeks so we are ready to go at the start of the outdoor season.

The Cyclones had nine individual medalists and had four relays medal. The girls 4x800 was the lone gold medalists, winning in 11:22.9. Members were Mallory Cooper, Kinzly Macke, Allison Kerkman and Kylie Thiele.

“I was very pleased with the amount of effort that the kids put into the meet, they came to compete and put up some good starting marks for the year, I look forward to what the rest of the year has in store,”  Schumacher said.
